Slip Testing Ireland is a trading division of Surface Performance Ltd — a UKAS ISO 17025 accredited slip resistance testing laboratory based in the UK, serving clients across Ireland and internationally since 2011.
Surface Performance Ltd was founded in 2011 by Callum Reid, an industry specialist with over fifteen years of experience in UKAS-accredited material testing and slip resistance assessment. Today, we operate one of the few UKAS ISO 17025 accredited slip testing laboratories recognised under UKAS Schedule No. 7933 — the gold standard for technical competence and impartiality in testing.
Our work spans the entire island of Ireland, from Dublin retail parks and Cork hotels to Galway universities and Belfast leisure centres. We test for insurers, facilities management companies, architects, tile manufacturers, schools, hospitals, local authorities, and solicitors handling slip-and-fall litigation. What unites our clients is a shared requirement: they need slip resistance data that will hold up under scrutiny — in a courtroom, in front of the HSA, or at an insurance renewal meeting.
Surface Performance holds UKAS ISO 17025 accreditation (Schedule No. 7933) for slip resistance testing to BS 7976, along with additional accreditations from FIFA, the FA, World Rugby, FIH (hockey), ITF (tennis), and RoSPA for our sports surface testing capability. These accreditations are reviewed annually by independent UKAS assessors — we do not self-certify.
Genuine independence. We do not sell anti-slip treatments, flooring products, or cleaning chemicals. We test your floors — we do not try to sell you a solution. This independence is a mandatory condition of UKAS accreditation and it is what makes our reports credible evidence.
Documented traceability. Every test we perform is fully traceable: instrument calibration, consumable batch numbers, engineer qualifications, and environmental conditions are all recorded. If our report ends up in an Irish court, every data point stands up to cross-examination.
Real engineers, not subcontractors. Every site attendance is carried out by a direct employee of Surface Performance — not a subcontractor or a third-party technician. Our engineers hold current UKAS-approved training.
48-hour reporting. A full UKAS-accredited report is issued within 48 hours of site attendance. No delays, no chasing, no excuses.
We have tested thousands of flooring areas across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland — from single-site retail audits in Dublin to multi-site portfolio assessments for Irish insurance brokers. Our Irish clients include major hotel groups, food manufacturers, shopping centre operators, sports clubs, universities, and public sector bodies. We work under both Irish jurisdiction (Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005) and Northern Irish jurisdiction (Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978), and our UKAS accreditation is equally valid in both.
Callum Reid — Managing Director. Callum founded Surface Performance in 2011 and has led the business ever since. He has over 15 years of experience in UKAS-accredited slip and sports surface testing and is personally involved in expert witness work and complex Irish projects.
